Hey Daniel, thanks for your comment. From what I’ve heard, and it is only 2nd hand information and so it may be wrong, George kept in close contact with his wife after they had separated. I have been told from a number of sources that he had disowned his daughter, and judging from the fact that she was excluded from his will and did not inherit any part of his huge estate, that would indicate that they did not have any reconciliation prior to his death. Whatever the cause, a real shame.

I totally agree with your review. I am almost done reading the book and before reading your text, I was thinking that the biography is so telling about what is not written, what is missing. His technical accomplishments are extraordinary but I do not envy his personal life. I am somewhat puzzled though that, in the introduction section, he thanked his daughter for typing the early text. Is that an indication that she kept in contact? If so, that would be a bit comforting.
